Tenerife, Canary Islands:
Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque
Tenerife’s Hotel Bahía del Duque Resort & Spa looks like a fantasy. It enjoys a gorgeous location on the southwestern Costa Adeje, up the coast from the trendy “Playa de las Americas”. The resort draws its inspiration of curving balconies, arcaded terraces and tiled turrets from a fusion of Canarian architecture and the baroque motifs of Spanish taste -– surrounded with a botanical garden of flowers and fluttering palms, pools, fountains, winding walkways, curving stairs and little bridges, and every kind of fanciful pleasure-garden motif. The hotel is also a highly-rated spa, the first by L'Occitane en Provence in Spain. There are several excellent golf courses nearby, and a wide range of water activities and other sports available. The Hotel was fully refurbished in 2009.
Guest Accommodations
Guest rooms are charming, their appointments and furnishings suggest the warm natural feeling of light and sea breezes that characterizes the Canaries. Each has a terrace or balcony, with either a garden or seaview. Rooms include a comfortable sitting area, satellite TV with LCD screen, complimentary wifi access, and a charming dual-vanity bath with shower and bath accessories by L'Occitane en Provence.
Spa and Sport Facilities
The award winning L'Occitane Spa has been designed to take as much advantage as possible of the year-round spring/summer climate of Tenerife, with interspersed indoor and outdoor spaces, open-air treatment cabanas, pools using the clean salt water of the Atlantic. The Spa offers a very wide menu of body and facial treatments, emphasizing natural herbal preparations and massage. The staff also offers fitness evaluations and several types of exercise session at the Wellness Studio, including Kinesis, Yoga, and Pilates.
The Bahia also has an almost endless array of sport options. Just to give you an idea: bridge and pool lounge, squash court, tennis courts, paddle tennis courts, jogging circuit, botanical walk, beach volleyball, giant chess, mountain biking, dance, -- even an astronomic observatory!
