Madrid: Westin Palace
Our Madrid home base is another great classic of European style, the Westin Palace, which celebrated 100 years of glamorous landmark status in 2012 –- well deserved as we'll see when we have our first meal under the famous stained glass dome that graces the main restaurant. Royalty and the rich and famous have enjoyed the Palace over the decades, and its style is appropriate to its past. The rooms have been splendidly restored to that level of opulence, while being updated with all the conveniences that the modern traveler needs and expects. The hotel is within easy and pleasant walking distance of many of Madrid's attractions, the Puerta del Sol, the Gran Via, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, and the Prado to name just a few, not to mention infinite possibilities for cafes, shopping and just plain sightseeing on Madrid's streets.
Guest Rooms
The Palace's guest rooms are beautifully designed in a calmly classical style with designer wall treatments, plaster molding and a gentle color scheme, including beautifully restored antique furnishings and a marble entry foyer. Charming antique prints accent the walls, and the beds are signature Westin Heavenly Beds®. The dual-vanity bathroom is marble topped with marble-lined bath/shower alcove featuring a Westin Heavenly Shower®. Room amenities include climate control, dual line telephone with voice mail, electronic safe, large desk, cocktail table, down duvets and premier cotton bedding, 32 inch TV with internet system featuring movies on demand, plus high-speed internet (charges apply). Comfy bathrobes and bath toiletries are included.
Fitness Facilities
The hotel's Westin Workout Gym is accessible 24 hours daily with your guest key card, and offers TechnoGym equipment, stair steppers, rowing machines, treadmills and stationary bikes. Each workout area has multiple televisions and its own sound system so you needn't
listen to anyone's exercise music tastes but your own! There's an excellent sauna and solarium, and you can order light snacks and beverages on the terrace overlooking the square and park below.
