Climate
We will be visiting Cap Cana at the most delightful time of year. The coastal/beach regions generally experience highs of around 28°C (83°F) during the day and lows of about 20°C (68°F) in the evening with little chance of rain.
Currency
The Dominican peso is the national currency. There are coins of 1 and 5 pesos and then there are bills for RD$ 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000 and 2000. ATM machines are available throughout the resort. U.S. dollars are often accepted in Cap Cana and Punta Cana.
Entry Requirements
A passport must be valid at the time of entry. In addition, the Dominican Republic requires each visitor arriving at the Punta Cana airport to purchase a tourist card. This will be taken care of by Carpenter and provided to you.
Note: We suggest packing additional photocopies of the photo and personal information pages of your passport and keeping them in a separate location from where you keep your passport or other documents.
Medical Information:
Please check with your medical insurance provider to find out if your coverage is valid outside the United States; and whether coverage is adequate for medical emergencies and evacuations. If you need a doctor, your hotel can recommend one, or you can contact your embassy or consulate.
Electrical
Electrical sockets in the Dominican Republic usually supply electricity at between 110 and 120 volts AC. If you're plugging in a U.S. or Canadian 120 volt appliance, or an appliance that is compatible with multiple voltages, there is no need for an adapter.
Time Zone:
The Dominican Republic is on Atlantic Standard Time (which will be the same as Eastern Daylight Saving Time in the United States and Canada during our travel dates).
