Attractions and Adventures
Our stay in Cap Cana provides you with ample time both to completely relax and to get active. The Cap Cana “township”is big (30,000 acres!), it's a living community as well as a resort, and there are plenty of things to do and places to explore. While it's unlikely you'll get restless at Secrets Resort & Spa enjoying the beach, pool, fabulous non-motorized water sports, group classes, and Carpenter's private events ... we think you'll be tempted with the many optional adventures Cap Cana has to offer:
Golf. It's literally true that Cap Cana started with golf: Jack Nicklaus' championship Punta Espada course was the first ground broken here. It's 18 holes of 72-par excitement and oeanfront drama, and hosted the Cap Cana Championship, a PGA Champions Tour event, from 2008-2010. Corales is another topnotch seaside course, designed by Tom Fazio, just as scenic as Punta Espada.
Zip Line Eco-tour. This ultimate 2-hour adventure in Scape Park, Cap Cana's 70-acre nature reserve, gives new meaning to the phrase “memories to take home.” Using top of the line equipment, you'll sail out over a dramatic river gorge while taking in a breathtaking panorama of the Cap Cana coast. Scape Park is also the place to ride beach buggies where you can follow the park's back roads to a deserted beach.
Deep-sea fishing. A central jewel of Cap Cana is the gorgeous yacht Marina which provides harborage for over 130 vessels. Here you can charter a boat and skipper/fishing guide to venture out into one of the best deep-sea sport fishing grounds in the world. We will be in Cap Cana at the height of the Marlin season and your chances are excellent for catching one of these magnificent fish! The Marina operates on a catch-and-release basis, is a member of the Billfish Foundation, and hosts major angling tournaments annually.
Bavaro Splash. Bavaro is north of Cap Cana, and from here you pilot a racy 2-seater speedboat along the shore. The destination is the coral reefs, and here the excitement is of a different kind. Snorkeling gear is provided, and you float silently above the multi-colored world of the corals and the many species of animal that live in and on them. Then comes the most amazing part: using “snuba” equipment, you walk on the sea-floor amongst the creatures of the reef, seeing them at their own level.
Dolphin Encounter. Dolphins fascinate us with their intelligence, sociability, and incredible strength and grace. Your visit provides a memorable interaction, literally face to face, with a dolphin, not in an entertainment arena type of environment, but in a setting much closer to the natural habitat these powerful denizens of the sea enjoy. You'll be in the water with your cetacean friend, touch its smooth skin, get a real sense of sharing with a fellow being, while a dolphin expert conveys interesting facts and dolphin lore.
Helicopter Tour. A different way to appreciate the variety of Punta Cana, both its natural riches and the human-made environment. Take a helicopter jaunt – from 10 to 40 minutes – that will let you see the progression of rain-forest and arid vegetation, cliffs and river valleys, luxurious hotels, startlingly green golf courses, white strips of beach, and multi-hued patterns of shallow and deeper water and coral reefs, all from a lofty perspective.
